Brilliant Moon ... Life of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche

"Like the earth and the pervading elements,
Enduring like the sky itself endures,
For boundless multitudes of living beings,
may I be their ground and sustenance..."

"Being present in the moment may initially trigger fear.
But by welcoming the sensation of fear with complete openness,
we cut through the barriers created by habitual emotional patterns."

Glimpses of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche chronicles the life of the writer, poet, and meditation master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, one of Tibet's most revered 20th-century Buddhist teachers. Known as the teacher of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Royal Family of Bhutan, his life and teachings were an inspiration to all who encountered him. Two of his admirers are Richard Gere and Lou Reed, who provide the narration for his way dangerous journey out of China and the subsequent spread of his influence around the world.

Brilliant Moon was filmed in Tibet, India, Bhutan, the United States and Nepal, and uses animation, rare archival footage, and photos, along with new interviews with some of Tibet's great teachers, to tell Khyentse Rinpoche's moving life story, from birth to death to rebirth.

The 16th Karmapa

"When you do things,
then obstacles will come and you can  go through them.
Obstacles are a sign of success"

The Sixteenth Karmapa was the leader of one of Tibetan Buddhism's four major schools of spiritual teachings: the Kagyu lineage.

In 1931, at the age of seven, he performed his first Black Crown ceremony. Thousands were witness to this amazing event. It was said that a rain of flowers fell and the sky was filled with rainbows. Even while still very young, the great power of the 16th Karmapa became widely known[. It was recorded that he took his attendant's sword and tied it in a knot.

How he lived and how he died gives us the example of an awakened being, a person with a noble heart.
